This past Saturday, April 2nd we held our monthly workshop. The theme of this workshop was WE Hustle. Standing for Women Entrepreneurs Hustle. We gathered female entrepreneurs from all backgrounds, ages and industries. The goal was to come together and learn more about ourselves and our businesses.

To start off the day, we were inspired by a panel featuring Seema Alexander founder of Transition Lab, Sharon Beason founder of Womeneur, Jen Glantz founder of Bridesmaid for Hire, Pasha Cook founder of Pasha Cook & Associates and Victoria “Vix” Reitano founder of CreatiVixMedia. For our first workshop, Shydeia from Black Girl Magik led a facilitated discussion in order to help us to manifest and affirm what we wanted to accomplish in the near future. In our second workshop, Olive of Badass Women’s Society took us on a journey to find our voice through a series of communication based exercises. For the very last workshop of the day, Georgie-Ann from Illicit Mind prompted the crowd to write down why they hustle. After we wrote down our reasons, we stuck them on a white board and were able to see the reason why we hustle as well as why others hustle.

Here are some reasons why WE Hustle:

“because I want to inspire other women to find their voice”
“my passions”
“to BYOB ( Be your own boss) “
“because I believe there is something better than this”
“encourage children to be whatever they want and not afraid to express it”
“to hold space for those who cannot”
“freedom”
“to create”
“to be able to do for my mom and step dad all they’ve done for me”
“so that more girls (young, old and in between) know they are wonderful”
“to travel the world when I want”
“because I like to grow”
“because I don’t want to play by other people’s rules”
“because they told me I would be nothing”
“it makes my life way more interesting”
“to create spaces for black creatives”
“so my family won’t have to”
“to take advantage (& use all) of my full potential”
“my son, I want to teach him he can define his life”
